Erasmus for Young Entrepreneurs

Are you thinking of starting your own business, or have you recently done so? Or perhaps you are already running a successful business and would like to expand it to new markets, or get fresh ideas?

Erasmus for Young Entrepreneurs could be for you!

Our European business network and financial support can help you exchange knowledge and expand your business.

The European exchange programme for entrepreneurs

Erasmus for Young Entrepreneurs is a cross-border exchange programme which gives new or aspiring entrepreneurs the chance to learn from experienced entrepreneurs running small businesses in other Participating Countries.

The exchange of experience takes place during a stay with the experienced entrepreneur, which helps the new entrepreneur acquire the skills needed to run a small firm.

The host benefits from fresh perspectives on his/her business and gets the opportunities to cooperate with foreign partners or learn about new markets.

The stay is partially funded by the European Union.

Whether you are a new or highly experienced entrepreneur, the programme can offer strong added value to your business: possible benefits include exchange of knowledge and experience, networking opportunities across Europe, new commercial relations or markets abroad.

"Sitting in on a single meeting between my host company and other business leaders I have been able to learn more in two hours than I could ever have learnt in months possibly years at university.”
Alex Zylberberg, Managing Director MultilingualStuff United-Kingdom

Who can participate?

  • New entrepreneurs, firmly planning to set up their own business or have already started one within the last three years;
  • Experienced entrepreneurs who own or manage a Small or Medium-Sized Enterprise in one of the Participating Countries.

What a lovely video telling the story of Erasmus for Young Entrepreneurs alumni Dilek Topkara, who has now set up her own business Dilekerei in Berlin, Germany.

Back in 2010, Dilek had an entrepreneurial exchange with one of our experienced entrepreneurs and cake decorators in the UK, before continuing to get more experience and setting up her own business.

We wish Dilek a lot of luck and success with her business. We we certainly stop by next time we are in Berlin to try some of her delicious-looking cakes :)

Wow, what a stimulating event it has been!

Fantastic two days with our intermediary organisations from across Europe with many thought-provoking discussions and plenty of new ideas on how to progress with the programme.

We have also now officially welcomed our new intermediary organisations that have just joined the programme.

More pictures are to come but we can already share this lovely photo of our participants! :)

Crowdfunding is an emerging source of financing involving open calls to the public, generally via the internet, to finance projects through donations, monetary contributions in exchange for a reward, product pre-ordering, lending, or investment.

Any type of organisation can launch a crowdfunding campaign. SMEs, artists, innovative start-ups, and social entrepreneurs may all benefit from different forms of crowdfunding.

The guide for small businesses explains what crowdfunding is and how to use it. It offers information for small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) on different types of crowdfunding and gives practical tips on how to access it.

Hi @Giannis Nikitidis,

New entrepreneurs who apply for Erasmus for Young entrepreneurs have to provide a full business plan and a summary of it.

The full business plan, ONLY accessible to your intermediary organisation must at least contain:

1. A clear description of the product or service to be offered;
2. A market analysis that includes definition and assessment of the target market. It should also include competitor’s analysis as well as the marketing and sales plan;
3. A financial plan including estimated expenses and income in the following 2 years and a break-even analysis.

As confidential document, you can ask your intermediary organisation to sign a non-disclosure agreement (NDA) or any similar confidentiality agreement you consider pertinent.

The summary of the business plan is a brief presentation of your future business which will be viewed by host entrepreneurs.

If you need more information on how to write a business you can refer to websites or contact an intermediary organisation in your country and see how they can help.

Judging by their big smiles, the #ErasmusEntrepreneurs experience between these two entrepreneurs was a great success. Congratulations to Helena Loermans ( Handwoven Textiles ) and Marta Pokojowczyk.
