Erasmus for Young Entrepreneurs reaches 15,000 business exchanges
The Erasmus for Young
Entrepreneurs (EYE) programme has reached a major milestone, surpassing 15,000
business exchanges between aspiring entrepreneurs and experienced business
owners across Europe and beyond.
Since its launch in 2009, the
programme has supported nearly 30,000 entrepreneurs across 43 countries
in Europe and beyond, fostering cross-border collaboration, accelerating business creation,
and strengthening the competitiveness of small and medium-sized enterprises
(SMEs).
SMEs represent 99% of all
EU businesses and play a key role in innovation, employment, and economic
growth. Through EYE, new entrepreneurs gain the opportunity to learn directly
from experienced hosts abroad, supporting the creation, development, and
internationalisation of their businesses.
Through hands-on exchanges,
participants develop practical skills, expand their networks, and access new
markets. Programme feedback highlights strong impact: 88% of new entrepreneurs
improved their understanding of how to manage an SME, 83% built new business
contacts, and 64% expanded into international markets. More than 72% of host
entrepreneurs improved their business through new ideas and know-how, while 90%
report a perceptible or significant contribution from new entrepreneurs to
their business.
The programme also promotes
inclusive entrepreneurship, with 52% of new entrepreneurs being women,
supporting wider access to opportunities across Europe.
Building on this milestone,
the EYE programme will continue to expand its reach and impact, supporting the
next generation of entrepreneurs and strengthening a competitive, innovative,
and sustainable European economy.
