Sara is a young aspiring Italian entrepreneur who launched her own clothing brand - Serratore Atelier - over a year ago based on the values of handmade-to-measure and Italian quality. She wanted to participate in the Erasmus for Young Entrepreneurs programme to improve her management skills and expand her network abroad to find new creative ideas. Thanks to this initiative she created an exchange with Sydney Nwakanma founder of Emeka Suits, a growing Berlin-based company that produces sustainable fashion garments from recycled materials collaborating with Kenyan tailors and paying attention to community empowerment and circularity in the fashion industry.

The entrepreneurs focused in developing product communication, advertising through social media channels and online sales with updated and effective materials to convey the brands’ meaning and story. Their collaboration began with the creation of a fashion film, "Cycles", for the Emeka brand which was later released on the popular platform Nowness. Sydney and Sara then worked on media content for both brands new summer collections, the launch of the updated website for Emeka and social media planning for both projects. In the final part of their exchange the entrepreneurs developed the new collections planned for late 2021 and the coming year. During this phase they strengthened their teamwork, starting with research, creating mood boards, technical sketches and prototyping. Emeka opened a new creative office for the Cycle Collective team and Sara set up a collaboration with an artist from Red Bull Rap Germany to build a network of collaborators and potential clients there.

Sara will now focus on promoting the newly launched collection and designing the Summer 2022 collection. In addition, she intends to look for manufacturing companies in Italy to expand her team and delegate the production of clothes, supporting female employment and the development of the art of tailoring. Finally, she plans to open a creative office. Sydney’s next goal is to work on the future collections, travelling to Kenya and visiting the tailors to be present during the production process. After this, he will come back to Berlin and develop the communication promotion and production of new content for the collection produced in Kenya to expand the impact of his project.
