Our Erasmus for Young Entrepreneurs experience with Sahand was very interesting. We met a very motivated young engineer and helped him to push his business idea for a Small Smart Solar system (3S).

João Gomes from Uppsala, Sweden is a host entrepreneur who runs MG Sustainable AB and wanted new insights from a young entrepreneur. He was specifically looking for someone with a background in innovative photovoltaic designs and a multidisciplinary approach. Sahand, an Iranian living in Italy, was motivated to start and develop his own business in renewable energy, especially solar energy. He wanted to start his own business and collaborate with other companies in the EU to fight global warming. As a new entrepreneur, his goal was to establish a cross-border collaboration between him as a young entrepreneur with scientific and technical experience and the host with technical and business experience.l.


During the exchange, Sahand gained experience experience and skills to improve the effectiveness and innovation of the proposed Small Smart Solar (3S) system. The NE explored the integration of 3S with existing energy grids based on other solar projects of the HE to develop a modular system that can meet a high percentage of buildings' energy needs from renewable solar energy sources. The NE gained experience in the business and funding streams of renewable energy projects and in building networks with stakeholders involved in the implementation of renewable energy projects. As MG sustainable AB has extensive experience in the preparation and management of projects from different funding sources (local, national and European), Sahand has gained experience and skills in applying for grants for innovative solar solutions.

Sahand has gained an understanding of the business of such projects and its partners in the ecosystem. He has also been involved in the business process by contributing to the engineering and project management and assisting João in the overall management of the projects. In addition, Sahand gained hands-on experience in the development of a novel concentrating solar field using parabolic trough collector and C- PVT. He was involved in the then H2020 project (RES4LIVE) led by HE, which focused on the implementation of solar technology in livestock farms, and had the opportunity to design and submit a new H2020 solar energy project proposal, including the formation of a consortium.

Sahand learnt and gained experience with novel and innovative technologies in solar energy and their integration into a larger energy grid. He also did a lot of research on different players and business models in successful renewable energy projects and implementations. He discussed the effectiveness of different models and players with the HE.
