New entrepreneur:
Beatrice Scambi (Italy)
Age: 26
Company name: (Start-up)
Sector of activity: Community, social and personal services

It was a life school to grow, learn and improve. Suryalila with the people living and passing by taught me how to shine: more than being just a Yoga business, it’s a universe that attracts special souls where everything shines more. I could breathe, close my eyes and let myself be carried away.

Host entrepreneur:
Vidya Jacqueline Heisel (Spain)

Company name: Suryalila Retreat Centre / (20 years of experience)
Sector of activity: Hotel, restaurant, tourism, travel services and wellness

The exchange was an enriching experience for both. From the beginning an excellent working and interpersonal relationship was created. Beatrice contributed to my knowledge and ideas in a creative way and always with an enthusiastic attitude seeking to find new solutions.

Period of exchange: 08/2020 until 12/2020
Duration of exchange: 4 months

The Host Entrepreneur Vidya runs a yoga retreat centre called "Suryalila" on an old olive grove renovated in the typical Andalusian Cortijo style in the province of Cadiz a sun that warms the body and spirit through its activities and its retreats based on holistic practices (yoga meditation qi gong healthy food conscious living and activities in nature).

The NE Beatrice is a world citizen with a strong passion for tourism, yoga and holistic practices, graduate in Tourism Management.
Everything happens for a reason so there’s no coincidence making these two universes meet each other.

The programme was the chance to enrich each other’s experience by providing a special view: Vidya wanted to host a New Entrepreneur who could give the business a fresh perspective, new ideas and peculiar skills and interests. The NE’s expected benefits regarded the chance to gain knowledge on business management in this field as well as improve the knowledge related to holistic practices yoga social media and guest service

From the very first day Beatrice was involved in many activities and tasks. The NE had many trainings with people in Suryalila who were in charge of different departments. She dealt with of all the activities related to reception and guest service, management, getting to know how to deal with bookings, taxis, reservation and massages system, reservation of the many services provided and keeping an eye on everything needed. She also contributed to the online promotion dealing with graphic design of flyers, social media content-writing and editing blog posts, writing in Spanish and helping in the café. All of this constantly coming up with new ideas and perspectives. The NE and the HE were able to make the most out of this exchange creating a solid and amazing human and professional experience.

For the HE it was a very enriching experience on many levels: human, professional and personal. She had the chance to support a young professional in understanding how it is to run a business with many employees in such a peculiar communitarian context. Beatrice learnt how to deal with stressful situations, time management, and team work. The learning process didn’t take place only during working hours; it was a constant learning as Suryalila is a ground for international guests and visitors. While Beatrice improved her management and IT skills, Vidya benefited from her creativity, promotion and social media expertise. Being in Suryalila throughout these four months, gave the NE the chance to live holistic practices in her everyday life. She grew and learnt very much on a personal level gaining inner strength motivation and self-confidence key skills for a new business.
