Chiara Cera is a young professional who is starting her own consulting initiative focused on project management and developing programming strategies for small NGOs in the non-profit sector. The NE has worked with several individuals with large projects and aspirations: this gave her the opportunity to discover the desire to start her project. This is the reason that led her to participate in the Erasmus Young Entrepreneurs programme. Her goal was to apply her skills in a work environment that permits her to contribute to the ob
jectives of the team and to acquire knowledge in practical experience. Mathias Kaps runs Starkmacher, a non-profit civil society organization active at the grass roots level with the mission to strengthen and empower citizens particularly young people and students. He is involved in socially relevant fields of action to sustainably strengthen young people and skilled youth work.
The project focused on the exchange of methods and joint implementation of newly developed projects, as well as participation in social events to gain networking skills and the development of guidelines and strategies. The NE and the HE worked on dissemination and promotion of the implemented projects. The NE participated in several activities of the organisation and contributed to the development of two projects that followed the project cycle, i.e. the development of activities, the choice of the topics and objectives, and the collaboration with the partners involved, providing helpful input on the themes of the activities and the overall management of the projects. An assessment strategy for the activities was developed and meetings and activities were held with the staff. The HE provided the NE with insightful suggestions and training for European project managers, which gave NE the possibility to acquire new competences and skills in the field of NGOs.
Valuable project management skills and practical experience in carrying out projects on various topics were acquired, professional knowledge was gained by communicating with professionals from different fields, and teamwork, leadership, professional communication and collaboration skills were improved. Finally, sustainable and long-term cooperation is established between NE and HE. The NE had the opportunity to improve her interpersonal and communication skills thanks to the cooperation and teamwork with the other colleagues in managing the projects as well as the international component of the working environment. In addition, the NE acquired in-depth knowledge on various topics of the organisation's engagement, working methods and strategies useful for the future work objective. The HE had the opportunity to present some new concepts and ideas for the development of the projects as well as for cooperation with the NE.
