Recent testimonies of successful business networking - Erasmus for Young Entrepreneurs programme
Period of exchange: 05/2014 until 08/2014
Duration of exchange: 3 months
Borja Santurino is an architect who plans to have his own company of architectural visualizations running in a period of one year. Erasmus for Young Entrepreneurs has allowed him to get in touch with the real needs to run a small company and put his idea into practice. This came true during his exchange with the host entrepreneur Henning Stüben who owns an architectural office in Copenhagen. He was willing to share his knowledge and experience in the field of architectural design also offering an insight into the administrative and financial side of the business. His company Urban Agency is an international office for architecture urbanism landscape design and research. He is active in projects throughout Europe Asia and North Africa with offices in Dublin and Copenhagen. The fact that the new entrepreneur had also several experiences abroad and was part of different projects in China Russia Taiwan and Germany contributed to a meaningful and successful collaboration.
During the exchange period Borja Santurino and Henning Stüben have developed competitions for architecture and commissions. They have collaborated with architectonic visualizations companies (the kind of company that Borja is going to start). They have also collaborated in the realization of visualizations for other companies in Germany and Denmark. rnDuring this period Borja Santurino has participated in meetings with clients and collaborators and has learnt about finances in a small company. He has attended receptions where he had the opportunity to meet important people in the architecture of Denmark. They have also worked in the development of his business plan changing it completely. He keeps having the idea of the new company but now he has a more mature idea of how to make it real. They have been working in the idea of collaborating with companies similar to his not just competing developing all the investments that he really needs and creating a database of potential clients
During this exchange the new entrepreneur has collaborated in his field with one studio in Italy one in Denmark one in Korea and one in Germany in addition to the host entrepreneur which are of course potential clients now. He has a clearer idea of how to finance his company. He is more self confident in work environments because he has already participated in important meetings. He has developed his linguistic skills especially in English. He has entered in a great (probably the best) architectonic market such as Denmark. He has realized his mistakes in his initial business plan and has developed a new and more realistic one. He has enriched his skills in computer visualizations. The host and the new entrepreneur have also a friendly relation and mean to continue their collaboration as long as they can.
