Results and benefits
Tommaso is a freelance filmmaker and founder of TA Production, based in Italy. He produces video content for companies, events, documentaries, music videos, interviews and social media. Self-taught in photography since 2018, he moved into music videos for emerging artists before refining his craft at IRFOSS in Padua, Istituto Design Palladio and MOODART in Verona, and working as an assistant on short films and documentaries. He joined the Erasmus for Young Entrepreneurs programme since he thought it could be a great working-opportunity to see how things work in a foreign country hoping to find a new perspective and point of view about his job and project.
The Host Entrepreneur, Alex, runs Drop of Lemon Studio, a visual strategy agency based in The Hague, Netherlands. It’s specialised in video animation AI visuals and creative direction for brands. Alex has participated in the EYE program multiple times now and he keeps coming back because it consistently brings motivated open-minded people into the studio. That’s really the main reason he continues. The people who choose this program tend to be genuinely curious and eager to grow and that energy is something you can feel from day one.
Tommaso was integrated into the studio’s workflow almost immediately: he started with re-edits of older projects which gave the Alex a clear picture of his level early on. From there they moved into full client projects such as concept development preproduction planning on-location shoots editing and multiple rounds of client feedback. Tommaso also supported Alex with internal projects and took on some overdue organisational work like archiving and structuring their footage library. By the end, he was fully integrated into the day-to-day operations. The main focus was on projects workflow editing pre-production pitch creative ideas post-production and final deliveries.
The exchange showed Alex and his team very concretely what becomes possible when the team grows. Tommaso took on editing and feedback rounds that freed them up for bigger work, which is a real operational benefit for a two-person studio. The biggest personal takeaway for Alex is that they now know they need someone like him on board full time. The biggest challenge is financial but that’s what they’re working towards and this exchange has made it a much more concrete goal. Thanks to this exchange, Tommaso had a good work-experience and they plan to try to collaborate together in the near future but in a bigger vision. The exchange gave Tommaso the possibility to work abroad in a foreign country and think bigger about his business.
