"How can I make a living from my passions? How can I share my gifts with society?"

These were the questions Alicia asked herself when she arrived in Berlin thanks to the Erasmus for Young Entrepreneurs programme. Alicia had many ideas and dreams, but turning them into reality was challenging. Sometimes the biggest obstacles stem from self-doubt—the belief that what you dream of can actually become real and help many people. This was one of Alicia's biggest hurdles. Although she had already put some of her dreams into practice, she still didn’t feel confident enough to stand by them, especially when it came to one major challenge: assigning fair monetary value to her contributions.

Thanks to her host entrepreneur waiting for her in Berlin, Lorena Valdenegro, Alicia gained key entrepreneurial and professional skills. She learned how to structure and professionalise her project, how to plan ideas over time to assess what is realistic and sustainable, and how to design a financing plan that includes fair working hours, costs and pricing. Through hands-on mentoring, she developed practical knowledge in financial planning, budgeting and pricing, which allowed her to better understand the economic value of her work. Alicia also learned how to draft project proposals, write funding applications and identify suitable funding opportunities, gaining the confidence to apply for financial support independently in the future.

Working within Lorena’s project AQUItheaterberlin allowed Alicia to gain hands-on experience in community-building, networking and partnership development, particularly within a migrant context. She contributed to the creation of databases, identified potential collaborators and explored opportunities for future expansion. At the same time, Alicia tested and implemented her own projects in a real professional environment. She organised a creative writing workshop and designed several vocational introspection courses. This enabled her to validate her ideas, better understand client needs and take concrete steps towards developing a sustainable entrepreneurial project.

Alicia finished her stay feeling happy and fulfilled, having acquired concrete entrepreneurial tools to turn ideas into sustainable projects, manage her working time, value her contributions and generate income from her passions. This summer, Alicia will be travelling to festivals around Europe to offer writing and vocational introspection workshops. All of this became possible thanks to her participation in the Erasmus for Young Entrepreneurs programme.
