Horse training education and management
Marcello Camisi, a 29-year-old veterinarian from Italy, participated in the Erasmus for Young Entrepreneurs (EYE) programme to develop his entrepreneurial project in the equestrian education sector. He was hosted by Ylvie Fros, an established entrepreneur with over 15 years of experience in equestrian training and education in the Netherlands. Marcello discovered EYE as an opportunity to transform his veterinary expertise into a sustainable business idea by integrating animal welfare, biomechanics, and innovative training methods. Ylvie joined the exchange to diversify her services, strengthen the educational offer of her centre, and explore new activities with commercial potential, such as horseback archery.
During the three-month exchange, Marcello worked alongside Ylvie in the daily management of the equestrian centre, gaining first-hand experience in running an equestrian business, structuring training services, and interacting with clients. He actively contributed to horse training, stable management, and educational activities, while refining his own business concept under Ylvie’s mentorship. Marcello also introduced horseback archery as a new training activity, testing its attractiveness for clients and its potential as an additional service. Together, they organised clinics on Centred Riding and discussed pedagogical and business strategies to expand educational programmes and attract new target groups.
As a result of the exchange, Marcello strengthened his entrepreneurial profile by obtaining a Level 1 Centred Riding instructor certification and by defining new service ideas that combine veterinary knowledge with equestrian education. He expanded his professional network in Northwestern Europe, laying the groundwork for future collaborations and business opportunities. Ylvie benefited from the development of new training formats and from fresh entrepreneurial input that supported the diversification of her centre’s offer. The exchange created strong prospects for continued cooperation and demonstrated how EYE can support concrete business development in the equestrian sector.
