Education within the artistic community - Combining singing and dancing

Driven by a shared interest in exploring the relationship between voice, body and movement, Vlatka, a Croatian entrepreneur developing a singing-focused business, collaborated with Goran, a Slovenian dance professional specialising in movement and embodied leadership, in Ljubljana for six months.

During the exchange, Vlatka introduced vocal warm-ups, breath control and resonance techniques, demonstrating how phrasing and tone can convey emotion. She guided participants in diaphragmatic breathing and integrated movement-based warm-ups into singing practice. Goran shared mindful movement, alignment and grounding techniques, and introduced body awareness methods to support vocal performance. Together, they designed and tested exercises that encouraged singers to respond to movement cues and dancers to react to live singing. They also co-created and delivered a pilot interdisciplinary workshop, refined the exercises based on participant feedback, and explored opportunities for future workshops and collaborations.

Vlatka gained a new teaching module integrating movement into vocal training, tested a successful workshop format, refined her business positioning, and expanded her professional network in Slovenia. Goran enhanced his dance teaching by incorporating vocal techniques, developed new interdisciplinary exercises, and gained insight into phrasing, rhythm, and emotional storytelling through voice. Both expanded their professional networks across Slovenia and Croatia, co-created a structured interdisciplinary workshop and differentiated their services through the integration of innovative methods. The collaboration strengthened their teaching practices and opened opportunities for future joint projects.
