Blue Economy

Megi Mykaj, a young entrepreneur with a passion for animals and laboratory work related to marine organisms, participated in the Erasmus for Young Entrepreneurs program to gain practical experience in the Blue Economy within the European market.

She was hosted by Vincenzo Ciullo, an experienced entrepreneur from Italy. The exchange focused on training and knowledge transfer, allowing both entrepreneurs to collaborate closely on developing laboratory expertise related to marine life and on strategies for customer engagement.

This collaboration provided Megi with valuable insights into sustainable business practices, with a particular focus on the Blue Economy and marine organisms, while Vincenzo benefited from the fresh perspective and innovative ideas of a new generation of entrepreneurs.

Megi and Vincenzo collaborated on the development, testing, and branding of a seafood-focused business tailored to the needs of the sustainable fishing industry.

Megi led the laboratory analysis and quality control of seafood products, ensuring safety and compliance with health standards. She also conducted research on marine species and contributed to assessing environmental impact.

Under Vincenzo’s guidance, they enhanced their expertise in marine laboratory practices and explored key aspects of the fishing sector within the Blue Economy. They participated in industry-specific online events, strengthened operational strategies tailored to the marine field, and expanded their professional networks.

The collaboration concluded with the creation of a comprehensive brand identity portfolio and a strategic business plan focused on sustainable market entry and growth in the fishing and marine research sectors.

During the exchange, Megi gained hands-on experience in marine laboratory diagnostics, from identifying illnesses in sea animals to applying innovative technologies for seafood testing. She also learned how to assess the freshness and safety of seafood products in aquaculture environments and developed a deeper understanding of quality control standards in the sustainable fishing industry. This strengthened her technical expertise and provided her with practical tools to support future projects in marine science and Blue Economy entrepreneurship.

At the same time, the collaboration facilitated valuable knowledge transfer and close cooperation on laboratory practices and customer engagement strategies. Megi had the chance to expand her insight into sustainable business models and marine research, while Vincenzo benefited from her creativity, fresh perspective, and innovative ideas, which enriched both laboratory processes and business strategies. Together, they built a mutually beneficial partnership that combined scientific expertise with forward-looking entrepreneurial approaches.
