After more than five years of working in SEO (Search Engine
Optimisation), Patrik Rojan decided to build his own start-up - Mixtazure.
Despite his studies in business administration and his master's degree in human
resources and organisational psychology, Patrik needed a push to start his own company and get in front of clients. He
had never studied or lived abroad, but his travels taught him that exposure to
other cultures enriches one's overall thinking and vision. Patrik's main goals
for the exchange were a new sales strategy, a final and improved version of the
website and a new strategy for growing his business. Therefore, he matched with
Anthimos Demosthenous from Cyprus, the owner of MindLab. Anthimos is an
experienced digital marketing entrepreneur who founded his company in 2016. He
registered in the exchange programme to connect with fresh, young and ambitious
minds and explore ways to rejuvenate his own business.
During the two-month collaboration, the two entrepreneurs
reviewed and refined Patrik's company's strategic plan and worked on SEO
services for Anthimos' clients. Anthimos helped Patrik understand the project
management process, including scoping, planning, executing, monitoring and
closing. He introduced Patrik to the agency's employee management process,
onboarding, training, performance management and retention. Patrik had the
opportunity to participate in presentations, client meetings, sales and
proposal development for Anthimos clients, and work on budgeting and
forecasting for the financial process of Anthimos' business. He learned how to
evaluate agency performance metrics, including revenue, profitability, customer satisfaction, and employee engagement. Under Anthimos'
guidance, Patrik developed a growth strategy for his agency and refined his
business plan, including a new financial plan.
The two entrepreneurs met regularly to organise Patrik's
business, focusing on the sales process. Patrik received guidance and advice on
how to grow and improve his new business, including a list of potential
clients. He also has a final website. By shadowing Anthimos and executives from
key departments at MindLab, Patrik improved his sales skills in
dealing with clients and learned how to manage employees. He developed his
social skills by learning how to offer feedback and guidance better. On the
other hand, Anthimos enjoyed the fresh perspective and energy Patrik brought.
He benefited greatly from Patrik's help with SEO services for his clients and was
happy to mentor Patrik as he developed the strategy for growing his new
business. The collaboration between the two entrepreneurs was successful and
mutually beneficial. The two decided to continue the partnership on a contract
basis after the exchange ended.
