Dr. Angelo De Bortoli is the manager and founder of Experteam srl, a company based in Venice (Italy) from 1996. The main products of Experteam are a series of innovative molecular biology kits for the detection of viruses, protozoa, bacteria and for the detection of genetic and tumoral diseases. He joined the programme because he was willing to share his knowledge and to benefit from the cooperation with a skilled young entrepreneur. Thijs op de Weegh has been managing his own business since 2007. Rise ‘n Shine is specialized in intellectual property management and business development with a proficiency in the life sciences. He joined the programme for the unique opportunity to expand his international business network. The main objective was to establish long term, internationally orientated and mutually beneficial collaborations with other entrepreneurs based on shared interests and business in the life sciences.
During the four months exchange period, Thijs’s tasks related to market research, translation into English of the Experteam's catalogue, which developed into a promising long-term collaboration.
Both the NE and the HE are totally satisfied with this experience because it was a great opportunity to share knowledge and to expand their business. Moreover, Angelo benefited from Thijs’s know-how in the Intellectual Property field, which helped Experteam to become more competitive and access new markets. Thijs shared his competences in Marketing and Business Development and helped Angelo with the developing of Experteam’s new international catalogue. The exchange turned out to be a springboard for a fruitful collaboration between Experteam and Rise ‘n Shine in which the latter became sales channel for the Experteam products in the North of Europe starting with The Netherlands.
